Family Tales: An Ultimate Weekend Adventure in Naivasha.

Given the chance to spend the weekend away from the city; who am I to say no? A quick weekend to Naivasha is always a good idea more so with kids who have endless energy and a penchant for mischief.

From long hikes and boat rides; to chasing after runaway picnic snacks; Naivasha has so much to offer proving that a quick weekend here is absolutely worth it.

Mt Longonot

For the adventurer at heart, this famous little mountain in the heart of the Rift Valley always makes for a fun climb. It’s a day’s worth of adventure and the climb is rather do-able by adults and kids alike. At 2776 meters above sea level this one will by far make this weekend your most accomplished one yet! However, it's important to note that going around the crater rim is SUPER HARD and challenging, definitely not for kids.

Hells Gate National Park

Besides the usual game drives at Hells Gate; host a high-altitude family circus as you Rock Climb Fischer’s Tower and see who gets to the top first. End this with a cycling race that the kids will love in the only park in Kenya that allows mountain biking.

Boat Rides

Safe to say the one place the kids (and adults) sat still was during the boat ride in Lake Naivasha. Hippo spotting with the breeze in your face; trying to learn the various bird species and just soaking in the (short-lived) tranquility made this our very own aquatic adventure.

Lakeside Camping

Have you even been to Naivasha if you haven’t camped? With so many campsites along the shoreline, you can’t miss a spot to pitch up on even the busiest of weekends. It's fun galore as the kids burn up some of that energy helping to pitch up and the husband directs the show with a cool beer in hand. With lakeside meals and bonfire tales, this is an absolute win for a great weekend with the family.

Walking Safari

Have you ever walked alongside wildebeest and giraffes? Have you ever been metres away from zebras and waterbucks? Well, Sanctuary Farm has a thriving sanctuary where you can have a guided walking safari and watch the animals in their natural habitat. Exciting for kids and adults alike!

Luxury Living

After a weekend of energetic parenting and countless adventures, we certainly opted to end our day at Chui Lodge by stepping into an oasis after a whirlwind of family adventures. The kids were delightfully spoilt and we finally found the time to unwind. Bonus points for a game drive in their sanctuary where the kids' excitement went up a notch spotting hyenas and leopards (if you're luck). With the lodge’s indulgent amenities, it was a fabulous reminder that even in the midst of adventure, there’s always room for a bit of opulent relaxation.

Naivasha is the sleepy lakeside town that is forever giving. Choose from a myriad of adventures, land and water safari’s , themed restaurants, simplistic camp life to even soft-girl luxury vibes. There’s something for everyone and this town certainly is a favourite family destination.
