Bush Home

12 Guests, 6 Bedrooms, 7 Beds, 6 Bathrooms

Located in a river bend within Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, Emboo River is the perfect spot for the your dream safari. It is the first fully sustainable lodge in the Maasai Mara and beyond… allowing you to enjoy a holiday in the midst of nature, while positively contributing to this unique environment and community. Travelling while only leaving a positive impact behind; Now that’s true luxury!

From its launch Emboo River went all in on sustainability and rethought every aspect of its operations, applying innovation and technology to create carbon neutral safaris. Emboo River’s game drives are literally running on sunshine. The full fleet of electric safari vehicles allows you to approach your favourite animals without disturbing them with air or sound pollution. Instead it feels like you are gliding through the savanna while listening to the sounds of birds and enjoying the scents of the grasslands.

Your game drives start as soon as you jump into the electric vehicles, because there is wildlife all around the lodge and sometimes even inside the lodge. Emboo River is not fenced in order to blend in with nature. Emboo River is a boutique lodge with only a few guest rooms, so the guides and other team members will check in with you regularly to plan the day ahead. Feel like a full day game drive with packed breakfast or prefer to sleep in? It’s up to you.

In between game drives, you can enjoy delicious farm to fork meals with organic ingredients from Emboo River’s own garden. Meals are served on hidden spots around the property or during your game drives in the bush. Sundowner drinks with cocktails and mocktails, followed by Maasai stories around the camp fire are the perfect way to wrap the day.

Feel like relaxing even more? Visit Emboo River’s spa, read a book in the lounge (which has WiFi) or take a dip in the natural swimming pool. A swimming pool with no chlorine, no salts, no chemicals… That’s refreshing!

Guests are also invited to plant trees as part of Emboo River’s programme ‘Rooting for our Future’, engage with the Maasai community, venture out on a bush walk, Maasai Warrior training, bird watching or balloon safari excursion.

Your room offers floor-to-ceiling views over the river, allowing you to spot wildlife from your bed. Your room’s furniture is made by Emboo River’s team, using natural materials from its own plantation. The en-suite bathroom boasts a rain shower with nature views.

The Emboo River team is happy to help you organise your transport. When travelling via air, you land on the Olkiombo airstrip where the Emboo River team will await you. When travelling via road – depending on where you depart from – you are likely to pass the Sekenani Gate and Talek Gate
