The Experience

This adventure begins in the ancient rainforests of Nyungwe, where you’ll trek to see chimpanzees and monkeys in their natural habitat. Next, head to Volcanoes National Park for a bucket-list gorilla trekking experience, surrounded by breathtaking volcanic landscapes and rich local culture. Conclude your journey in Akagera National Park, where classic game drives and boat safaris reveal elephants, rhinos, lions, and more.

Day 1

Arrival & Forest Immersion

Arrive at Nyungwe National Park and settle into your forest lodge. Enjoy the lush surroundings and the peaceful sounds of the rainforest. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring the lodge’s immediate area, preparing for your upcoming days of primate trekking and jungle exploration in this haven for wildlife and birdlife.
Day 2

Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Exploration

Wake early for a guided chimpanzee trek through the rainforest. Listen for chimp calls and watch monkeys leap through the canopy. After your trek, return to the lodge for rest or take a gentle nature walk. Enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the sounds of the forest, reflecting on your wildlife encounters.
Day 3

Rainforest Trails & Wildlife Discovery

Continue exploring Nyungwe’s rainforest trails with guided nature walks. Spot colorful birds and unique flora as you venture deeper into the jungle. Take time to observe the rich biodiversity and enjoy the tranquility of the forest. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening, sharing stories with fellow travelers.

Cultural Visit & Tea Plantation

Journey North to Volcanoes

Travel north to Volcanoes National Park, home to the legendary mountain gorillas. Settle into your lodge with stunning views of volcanic peaks. Prepare for your upcoming gorilla trek and immerse yourself in the region’s vibrant culture with village visits or local crafts, surrounded by dramatic landscapes and warm hospitality.
Day 6

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes

Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek, hiking through misty bamboo forests to spend time with a gorilla family. Observe their behavior up close in their natural habitat. After the trek, enjoy gentle walks to explore volcanic scenery or visit a local village, surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas.
Day 7

Akagera Safari – Savannah & Wetlands

Arrive in Akagera National Park and settle into your lodge. Enjoy a classic game drive, searching for elephants, rhinos, lions, and more. Explore the park’s savannahs and wetlands, spotting abundant wildlife and birdlife. Relax at your lodge or camp, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wild.
Day 8

Akagera Adventures & Cultural Nights

Continue your safari adventure with more game drives, boat safaris, or catch-and-release fishing on shimmering lakes. In the evening, experience a traditional Kugisha supper around the campfire, sharing stories and cultural insights under the stars, creating lasting memories in the heart of Africa.
Day 9

Farewell & Departure

Enjoy a final morning in Akagera, perhaps with a short game drive or a relaxed breakfast by the lake. Transfer to Kigali for your onward journey, carrying memories of primates, savannahs, and Rwandan hospitality.
