Begin in Arusha’s gardens and markets before heading to Tarangire for classic safaris among elephants and baobabs, with the thrill of night drives and walking safaris. At Lake Eyasi, rise early to join the Hadzabe on a traditional hunt and meet Datoga blacksmiths, gaining rare insight into ancient ways of life. Continue to the remote eastern Serengeti for intimate big cat encounters and sweeping plains, then follow the Great Migration from a mobile camp positioned for the season’s drama.

Day 1

Arrival – Garden Welcome

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet your guide for a warm welcome to Tanzania. Transfer to your tranquil lodge in Arusha, nestled among lush gardens and vibrant birdlife. Take time to relax after your journey. As evening falls, gather for a welcome dinner, savoring local flavors and meeting fellow travelers as you settle in and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Days 2-3

Arusha Life – Into Tarangire

Spend your first full day exploring Arusha’s vibrant markets and cultural sites. Optional excursions include Arusha National Park or a coffee plantation. Next, travel to Tarangire National Park, famed for its elephant herds and baobabs. Begin your first game drives and settle into your tented camp.
Day 4

Elephants – Night Safari

Enjoy a full day of game drives in Tarangire, seeking out elephants, lions, and diverse birdlife. After a picnic lunch in the wild, join a night drive or walking safari at dusk to discover the park’s nocturnal creatures and unique ecosystem.
Days 5-6

Lake Eyasi – Tribal Encounters

Journey to Lake Eyasi, home to the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers and Datoga blacksmiths. Rise early to join the Hadzabe on a traditional hunt and witness their survival skills. Spend time in lakeshore villages, observe birdlife, and visit Datoga artisans to learn about their metalworking traditions.
Day 7

Serengeti East – Big Cats

Travel to the remote eastern Serengeti, a haven for big cats, especially cheetahs. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives across sweeping plains and acacia woodlands. Optional walking safaris or night drives offer a new perspective on the park’s wildlife and starlit skies.
Days 8-10

Migration Camp – Wildebeest Drama

Move to a mobile camp positioned for the Great Migration. Start your days with early morning game drives, witnessing the awe-inspiring movement of wildebeest and zebras. Spend afternoons on further drives or relaxing at camp, and dine under a sky ablaze with stars. Over these three days, immerse yourself in the drama and beauty of the migration, with opportunities for bush dining and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Day 11

Farewell – Wild Memories

Enjoy a final sunrise game drive in the Serengeti, savoring the last moments of wild Africa. After breakfast, transfer to the nearest airstrip for your flight back to Arusha, where you connect to your onward journey, carrying memories of Tanzania’s living wilderness.

When to travel

Best from June to October for the Great Migration and dry-season wildlife. January to March offers lush landscapes and calving season in the Serengeti. Avoid April–May when heavy rains can impact travel.
