Brace yourself for an unparalleled experience as you navigate the untamed beauty of Magadi. Encounter nature's wonders, navigate thrilling river bends, and immerse yourself in an adventure like no other, set against the backdrop of breathtaking landscapes and unmatched serenity.
Please note that this itinerary is a guide to what we want to achieve. While the aim is to achieve all of this, many parts are out of our control, such as the location and access to manyattas (they often ‘migrate’ to distant pastures), the location and open-ness of the habituated baboons on a given day, and of course the water levels of the river itself.
We can be sure of great fun, adventure and a stunning, wild location.
Leave Nairobi at midday and get driven across a scenic 3-hour drive to reach the Olorgesailie Prehistoric site. Enjoy a picnic lunch with a panoramic view of Lake Magadi before transferring to motorbikes at Nguruman Bridge for a thrilling ride to Kalema. Set up camp on the riverbank, where you'll receive a trip briefing and kayaking training. The exact schedule might vary based on local conditions. As the day winds down, savour riverside sunset drinks and a delightful fireside dinner, immersing yourself in the rugged beauty of the surroundings.
Begin your day with breakfast before packing up camp into the vehicle.
Prepare for an exciting kayak training session, and then get ready to kayak down the river for a few hours.
Enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch by the riverbank, followed by setting up the campsite. Dive into local culture with a visit to a Manyatta and witness traditional cattle herding. As night falls, indulge in a hearty dinner, completing a day filled with exploration and cultural immersion.
Kickstart your day with a refreshing cup of coffee, tea, and snacks, setting the tone for adventure.
Embark on a guided walk with habituated baboons, provided they're in the mood for company.
After breakfast, pack up camp and begin another exhilarating kayaking journey down the river.
After a satisfying late lunch, we bid farewell to this wild haven, driving back to Nairobi around 6pm.
