Meet Jovia, a trailblazing tour guide redefining adventure in Rwanda and Uganda while championing conservation and female empowerment.
Inspired by her sister, Umwiza Joanita-one of Rwanda’s first female guides, Jovia’s visits to Akagera ignited a passion that became her profession.
Following her sister’s path, Jovia joined the movement breaking barriers for women in tour guiding in 2018. Today, she leads safaris and drives -a role once dominated by men With guiding experience
and training in herpetology and ornithology, Jovia educates travellers on conservation, especially the misunderstood world of reptiles Jovia’s journey goes beyond guiding -it’s about inspiring, educating, and shifting perceptions. For her, every day in the wild is a new adventure.
