Nestled at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes is the lovely Mount Gahinga Lodge. There are eight cottages. Each cottage also has a fireplace and a private porch to enjoy the view.
The lodge recently got a makeover, with changes to the lounge, dining room, and gardens. They also added two deluxe cottages. Whether you're staying in one of the stone cottages with papyrus roofs or the new deluxe ones, you'll have easy access to gorilla and monkey tracking, volcano hiking, and meeting the local Batwa people. Each cottage has colourful decorations inspired by the Bafumbira people, giving it a local touch. The cottages are hand-built, reflecting the traditions of the Bufimbira people and every guest gets their own butler to help with whatever they need.
The lodge is a great place to stay if you want to go gorilla tracking, see golden monkeys, climb a volcano, explore local villages, and learn about the Batwa people, who have lived in the Central African rainforest for a long time.
