HOME OF THE PRIMATES

Deep in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest live 11 Gorilla families and you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures - an experience on many people’s ‘bucket list’. Treks start early in the morning, with the mountains still full of low clouds and mist. These expeditions can range from an hour to a full day - there and back. In groups no bigger than 8 you get to spend time with these magnificent primates and watch the silverback and his family enjoy their slow pace of life amongst the greenery of the forest.

Chimp Trekking

Living in a community of over 100 chimps, although splitting into smaller social groups, these guys are often overshadowed by their larger cousins, however, they still provide an unforgettable experience. Their constant jumping and calling loudly to each other while drumming on trees certainly alights the senses! Another great way to walk with these apes is to visit Ngamba Island which is an island in the middle of Lake Victoria. This is a rehabilitation centre and you can either go for a day visit or spend the night.

Chimpanzee & Gorilla Habituation

If you want to spend more time with these primates then habituation experiences provide just that. Get involved as the rangers spend whole days with the apes as they learn to be comfortable with humans. Over the course of the day, you can witness the daily routines of these groups and have your wildest interaction yet!

ADVENTURE

Uganda is renowned as a water sports destination amongst the international sporting crowd who visit annually to enjoy the immenseness of the Nile - there’s plenty to get your heart pumping on the world’s most iconic river.  White water rafting and kayaking is available for guests of all levels - from beginner to extreme you’re going to get soaked!

Alternatively, you could also see the river by heading face-first into it with a bungee jump. A 44m platform right above the Nile -  perfect for the adrenaline junky in you.

Or rather, charge along the banks on horseback or take to the air in a scenic flight with unparalleled views of this mighty river. Jinja is the town to experience all this and more.

SAFARI

Uganda is dotted with national parks, each with its own specific attraction, from tree-climbing lions to mighty waterfalls like Murchison Falls. It's also home to 58% of all African bird species thus the national parks offer ample excitement for twitchers (that’s British slang for the obsessive birdwatcher!). The most remote of the parks - Kidepo National Park, is the off-the-beaten-track experience to the bush. You can opt for a horse safari here and ride alongside herds of giraffes and buffalo… truly a must-do!

Another stop worth adding to your safari in the southwest region is Lake Bunyoni. The second deepest lake in Africa, it is dotted with 29 islands and offers some of the most incredible scenery the region has to offer (and going back to our bird aficionados, there are over 200 species here!). Take to the lake by boat or enjoy hikes around its shores.

Uganda’s lakes and rivers make it a heavenly destination for Lure and Fly Fishing and we can arrange fishing trips for all levels.  As a lesser-known fishing destination, you benefit from not sharing the waters with many others – if you don’t count the local fishermen of course!
