This epic adventure blends the thrill of helicopter flying with the adrenaline rush of downhill mountain biking. Soar over the majestic Mt. Kenya in a helicopter, then descend its slopes on two wheels. With bikes securely strapped to the helicopter, you’ll enjoy breathtaking aerial views before the ultimate downhill ride. While most adventures focus on ascending Mt. Kenya, this one flips the script, delivering pure downhill excitement. Spend two nights on the mountain, immersing yourself in its beauty and experiencing the best of its trails on your bike.

Highlights

Pricing includes a helicopter flight, drop-off and collection for you and the bike, and all bike hire gear
Your luggage should be in a soft case/ duffle bag and cannot weigh more than 15kg
Tents and camping equipment are included in the price
It would be best if you packed a sleeping bag fit for colder weather
We recommend you bring a waterproof jacket and breathable technical clothing like fleece
Don't forget gloves for the colder weather near the top of the mountain, and caps and sunglasses for when you descend the mountain under the sun

Day 1 (Going Up )

Start your day with an early morning departure from Nanyuki Airfield and a scenic helicopter flight over Mount Kenya, showcasing its iconic peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Lenana. Land at Lake Michelson, known for offering the mountain’s best views, and enjoy a picnic breakfast with time to hike or fish. Then, gear up for an exhilarating bike descent through diverse ecosystems. Wrap up the adventure at a picturesque campsite with dinner prepared by the support team.

Day 2 (The descent begins!)

After breakfast, begin your descent down Mount Kenya along scenic trails, passing through the striking Teleki Valley. Along the way, marvel at the mountain’s unique flora, including the towering giant lobelias and groundsels, and keep an eye out for wildlife like hyraxes and soaring lammergeiers. Pause for lunch at a spot with breathtaking panoramic views before continuing your ride through this ever-changing landscape, rich with natural wonders.

Day 3 (Completing the descent)

In the morning, cycle toward Lake Ellis, a serene alpine lake renowned for its crystal-clear waters and peaceful surroundings. Pause for lunch by the lake, taking in its tranquil beauty. Continue your descent along the Chogoria Route, famous for its lush forests, dramatic waterfalls, and expansive views of the plains below—a breathtaking finale to your mountain adventure.

Day 4 (R&R)

You've made it!

Now it's time for some good old rest and recovery. The Mount Kenya area has some of our favourite accommodation partners, and you can't quite beat the views of the mountain in the background on one side, and the Aberdare Mountain Range on the other, with nothing but rolling hills and open plains in between. After all the cycling, stay an extra few nights in the area and explore everything it has to offer.
